Privacy Policy

This policy describes the information collected during a visit, the reasons it is used, and the limited situations in which another party may receive it. By using Custer County Criminal History, you accept the practices stated here.

Data You Give Us Directly

Search Queries

A name or place entered in a search tool is sent directly to the outside provider operating that tool. The provider processes the request and supplies its response. We do not keep or log those search terms on our systems.

Messages and Contact Submissions

An email may be retained long enough to answer and manage the message. It remains within our team unless disclosure is required by a valid legal duty.

Data We Gather Automatically

When a page loads, servers may receive basic technical and usage details:

  • Page-view times and the pages visited
  • Device type and operating system
  • Browser name and version
  • The device's assigned IP address
  • Visit duration on individual pages
  • A referring site, when one is supplied

Cookies and Analytics

Cookies are small device files that help measure visits, popular pages, and where sessions end. Analytics services combine that traffic information. A browser can reject cookies, although a few site functions may then work differently.

What We Do With This Data

  • Routing a search request to the selected partner
  • Finding and repairing technical faults
  • Maintaining reliable and prompt page delivery
  • Measuring which content visitors use
  • Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests

No Criminal-Record Data on File

We do not maintain, assemble, or sell a database of personal criminal records. Custer County guidance points to the Sheriff, County and District Courts, Nebraska State Patrol Criminal Identification Division, and Nebraska Sex Offender Registry as the official holders. We are not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and visitor information is not turned into a consumer report or a record about another person.

Third-Party Search Partners

Outside companies operate the search boxes. Their privacy terms, retention periods, and disclosure rules govern information entered there. We cannot control those practices, so review the provider's policy before submitting a request.

Links to Other Websites

Links may lead to the Custer County Sheriff, Nebraska courts, state agencies, legal resources, or external search services. Once a visitor leaves this site, the destination's privacy policy applies. Read it before providing personal data.

Advertising companies may use their own systems to measure activity across websites and select ads. We do not operate that tracking.

Who Might See Your Data

Personal data is not sold. Limited information may be available to:

  • Analytics providers measuring traffic and performance
  • Search partners processing a visitor's query
  • Advertising networks serving ads on the pages
  • Government or law-enforcement authorities acting under a valid legal order

How We Protect Your Data

Standard safeguards are used for information in our control. No internet service is completely secure, however, and we cannot promise that a breach will never occur.

Users Under 18

The site is intended for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone younger than 18. If a minor's information is identified, it can be requested for deletion.

Your Data Rights

Rights may depend on the law where a visitor lives. Nebraska Public Records Statutes, Neb. Rev. Stat. §§84-712 through 84-712.09, govern access to public agency records, while Neb. Rev. Stat. §29-3523 controls dissemination of specified criminal-history information. Those laws do not turn this private site into a government record holder. For data within our control, a visitor may:

  • Request deletion of personal information
  • Ask what information is held about that visitor
  • Seek correction of inaccurate information
  • Object to certain forms of processing

Updates to This Policy

This policy may be revised. A new version becomes available here with an updated effective date, so visitors should review it periodically.
